This week we attended a Professional Branding workshop with Maybank. The workshop has shared some points that I find useful which I can apply in my professional project.

What is personal branding? and why is it important? Personal branding is the unique combination of skills and experiences that make you who you are. It is how you present yourself to the world. Effective personal branding will differentiate you from the competition and allow you to build trust with prospective clients and employers. Another reason the personal brand is important is it makes a memorable impression on yourself and, it can allow your customers/clients to know what to expect from your experience.

What makes you unique?

There are three steps to how you identify yourself as a brand. First, do a self-reflection and ask yourself a question.

  • How do I promote myself?

  • What are my strengths? and what am I interested in?

  • How I make employers remember me?

  • What am I passionate about, and what sets me apart from others.

Second, seek feedback from others and ask them questions about yourself, and work on feedback conservatively.

  • What do people think about me?

  • What do you feel I'm good at?

  • What do you see me differently compared to others?

What makes you good in the virtual presentation?

The practice of making you good in the virtual presentation also important too. There are five tips to an effective virtual presentation:

  • Be a Tv Personality

  • Be Connected

  • Watch Your Tone

  • Be Prepared

  • Be Passionate

Other tips are zooming in on your audience. We need to know who you are speaking to is whether investors or lecturers, and we have to focus on them. Then we know what are their concerns about, and what their needs and expectations from us so that we can provide solutions to help them to meet their goals.
