Week 5 - Photonovel Article Study (Group Discussion)

In this week class, we were asked to present our finding from the article assigned by the lecturer. Our group (Group 4) were assigned to read the article "The Magazine Story: The Rise and Decline of a Genre". After reading the article we had to discuss the four different things in group, which is the summary of the article, the key point of each paragraph, 5 aspects/ideas that we find useful to support our project and 5 aspects/ideas we would like to research in further.

To summarise, chapter 7 in this book, talks about photostory can help us to familiarise and to use as a guide on how to create a story. This chapter helped us to understand the difference between comic strips and photostory. It also gave me a lot of things to think about how this medium could be made to be more interesting, or more thought-provoking for the audience.

Now, I have to start thinking about who I can interview and what type of direction I want to bring in this photonovel. For my interviewee, I think of is my friend who is currently doing PHD program in the UK, about his study abroad experiences and thoughts. The reasons I think he would be a perfect outsider is because, we are Malaysian, and he is currently in Western country (he has done his whole degree, and degree-master course in the UK University). I think it would be interesting to gain insight from his perspective and see what I can find out some interesting things.
