Laser Cutting Workshop & Tour (FabU Cafe)

FabU cafe is a cafe located in Bandar Sunway that serves as a cafe and a makerspace for is audiences to make and create things.

First we were introduced to the brief history of the cafe and then we toured around the cafe, exploring the services they offer, which are laser cutting, engraving, 3D printing and digital embroidery.

We were first introduced to how the laser cut machine works and its capability. The laser cut machine definitely offers more possibilities to people who would like to create intricate works as it cut precisely and could work with different type of material such as mdf, wood, acrylic and paper.

We were also shown on how the machine works when cutting and engraving and also to take note of the safety precaution while using it. Other than cutting, the machine is also able to engrave on wood which provides another kind of texture and outcome. With laser cut machine, we can even create a pattern that allow us to bend the wood.

Also we have the chance to laser cut a keychain using our design during the workshop. It was a great experience for us to try using the laser cut machine. I decided use acrylic and wood to test out and here are the outcome:
