1000 Words About Someone
A head start of this project I listing out the questions I have for her, I created a file with interview questions in it and had her answered. From what I interviewed, I decided that the 1000 words would theme around how she embarked on her path in design and the practice and process of it. Below is the full interview with Marissa Voo.
Invitation of an interview session ( Email Questionnaire)

After getting all the information, I made another mind map to arrange the data and prioritize which to be included in the 1000 words.

Before starting to write the 1000 words, I looked up for some editorial design examples that could be used as inspiration in designing the spread.
Here are the sketches for the article layout design:

Feedback
After the tutorial session with my lecturer, he suggested the first idea is a good experiment with the design compared to the second idea. My next action plan is to finalize the article layout design with the summary from the interview.
EAOT (Asking questions & General research)
This week I had my tutorial with the lecturer and had a major decision for the topic I’m doing for this project. However, I will need to continue with more research, and start to look at some content and visuals about the topic.

From last week’s topic that I listed out, I selected two topics that I was much more interested in to develop. This week was about asking questions and looking for answers from the topics. I selected (Me)Time & Golden(Hour) to be the topic that I further look into. The questions I listed out were mostly things that I have never thought about in the topics, and also things outside my comfort zone.
I mind a mind map for the questions I have for a better view and arrangement. Some questions questioned the knowledge I have about (Me)Time and what has this topic been like in my life. I questioned what does golden hour meant to me and I find most of the time I’ve been in my comfort zone.
Hence, most of the questions I listed were something I’ve never tried before. For example, I rarely apply my time productively in the evening, as most of the time I spend watching social media and laying on bed do nothing. So I tried to apply that concept in this project. For example, one of things I never thought of is to use photography to bring out the hidden issues in society. Instead of sharing word of mouth and designing a story as I did during my diploma, I wanted to make some changes in the way I approach designing and put a better meaning in it.
Another topic I considered is gold. Other than objects, I think exploring a concept would be interesting also. Who doesn’t like gold things? I think rarely people would choose something they deemed as having no value and special. As I personally like gold color things, I do think this topic is very subjective, as different people have different opinions about gold.
However, I think some interesting ideas can be generated from this topic, as exploring something unfamiliar is always full of possibilities and unknown. One of the rather interesting ideas I generated from the questions was exploring the golden time in life, as I wonder if it has one.
The Professional - To Find And Do Work That You Love
This week I also listed out the things that I love and things that I'm good at.
What I love to do
I love creating, drawing, photography, exploring, learning, design, anything that has to do with hand, camera, ipad and laptop also skills that I am able to master applied in my design. I also love to share my story through images, text and also let my imagination run wild in my design. Other than these, I also love the process when I bring ideas to life, as it is the process that makes the whole final work enjoyable and satisfying.
What I am good at
I feel great and blessed as what I love to do is also what I am good at doing, other than skills I was able to master, I also have a good sense of visual angle and aesthetics which helps me a lot when I am creating my work.
Next action plan: To prepare my portfolio, create an account to promote myself & search some companies that I like to work for
After understanding what a portfolio is and the importance of having a good portfolio, I have gone through the projects I have produced along my diploma year until now, and here are some of my strongest works that I have produced.
