The Questionnaire

1. Based on the presentation and work from Part 1, what aspect of your work do you feel needs improvement?

Based on my work and presentation from part 1 of the subject, I think that my data analysis could be further developed and the data finding can be more in depth. Overall the presentation a bit too fast what Mr. Mike said and the insight I didn’t presented clearer in the presentation. He also suggested to me explain the percentage means, that can let the audiences easy to understand what I targeted to do for the people and why do people reject to try TCM. Hence, I think that I will need to think through and plan on what I want to address.

1. What are your initial ideas for the outcome of your envisioned information piece*? Some questions to help you:

a. What would you say is the ultimate purpose of your envisioned information piece? It might help to think about why you chose your topic in the first place.

I think my final envisioned information piece would be like a glass mounted frame, in order to provide the most simple way to enable the visitors to check their tongues and face color by themselves to diagnose the potential illnesses. In this part, audience would experience one of the Chinese method is syndrome differentiation for organs, Zang Fu Bian Zheng in Chinese medical way, which is based on the relationship between physiological function, pathology and the organs in order to enable audience to know more about their potential liver illnesses. By self-checking the tongue and eyes, audiences are available to make use of the test result, in order to have a deeper knowing of their liver condition. For the second part, would be place a wooden medicine wardrobe which are put the Chinese medicine and label it the ingredients name, taste, and function. To help visitors to deal with the issues about liver healthy and get better understanding on how TCM work.

a. What do you hope to achieve with the piece?

Personally, I find the topic quite interesting, hence I would like to experimental the audience with my findings through the envisioned information piece.

b. How does the data from you research contributes to the design of the piece?

As for the current data that I have on hand, it is definitely not enough for me to do on my second part. I would need to get in depth data if I could, for me to find the sweet spot that I can work on in the process. For part 1, the data does play its part in the infographic, giving the audience the literal data from my survey and findings. However, I think the content of the whole research is not clearer presented in the infographic, it give audiences hard to understand.

3. What design processes excite you and why? (e.g. Silk-screening, 3D Modelling/Printing, Printmaking, AR/VR, Coding, Woodcarving, laser cutting, embroidery, Sculpture, Video editing, animation etc... These are just examples if you have others that is not listed here please feel free to put it down and elaborate.)

Some of the workshops that I’ve attended during diploma was exciting and also good experience. I think workshop that requires hand on practices really excites me. I would love to attend more workshops that can expose us on what the industrial have been using, what is on trend or what kind of skills will we need for our future.

4. What don’t you know but need to for your project?

I need to develop a better sense of interpreting data, as the module itself requires us to deal with a lot with data that we assembles ourselves. I will also need more workshop learning that I can use to come out with my envisioned information piece. I think I need to get more information about the topic that I’m working with and also to experiment with different working methods.
