This will be my first assignment of this subject “GD in Context” which is long term for Graphic Design in Context. There are so many tasks and assignments given out to complete which makes these two weeks already busy. The first assignment given out was the “I am amplifier”. We need to state a topic with a problem statement that can be related to First Thing First Manifesto and the current commercial world. When starting to research we have to prove with primary or secondary research. And we have to come out with a typography GIF poster.
For my very first topic was the advertisers use to make food look delicious. However, after the consultation with Miss Vinsze and the feedbacks make me realized the topic was not right from the start. And my direction and plan were not clearer too, so I have to understand what’s my direction is going on. After consultation and brainstorming within a day, I decided to do the Tendency of Advertisers making unrealistically nice visualization of products.
Here’s the research and process file I did on the topic I chose; it will give you a brief and clear image of the issues: https://bfe6f35f-8456-4214-9c46-55043cd43529.usrfiles.com/ugd/bfe6f3_5da0e01049ea41fbbd6bc39420920eb1.pdf
Placard GIF Poster Design:
In this design, I used colours that are bright and warm such as khaki, blue and red so that it can bring out the contrast and attention to the audience's eyes. The fast movement typography as presented the message that consumers should be aware to receive false hope from advertisers because the products that they purchased do not resemble what was displayed in the ads.
I showed this design to my lecturer and I was given some feedback on what can be improved:
The words move too fast where cannot actually read it.
Try not to have the letter change one by one (the big letter), as audience can't read the words, not legible. Only can read "whatisaw" only by pausing the video. Having the words stick together is confusing, people read it as "what is saw" at the first sight.
If I want to spell the alphabet one by one (the big alphabet in the middle), I will still need the words properly shown as full after I spelled out each letter.
After the tutorial, I have to do some amendments to improve the typography so that it can easy to read out the words that I want to convey.
Thanks for reading.
