Project Update: Independent Project

Early Research:

For my independent project, I wanted to focus on further understanding the importance of the Hakka dialect in Malaysia. This project will discuss the highlighted issues and further educate the young generation on the Hakka dialect and culture. In the issues section - namely to prove that the importance of the Hakka dialect by eliminating misconceptions, and cultivating their interest in the Hakka dialect. The Hakka dialect and culture have preservation value and significance for Hakkas. Therefore, the intention of a designer to convey information and create valuable content to inform the importance of the Hakka dialect to the audiences through graphic design. With a passion for the belief, the designer comes to conclude the following statement: With exposure to the Hakka dialect and culture, education background, the reason why the young generation gave up by using this language to communicate, and how it will affect us if the dialect disappears forever.

The intention of this piece is to connect the statement of the designer’s intention with the passion for the Hakka dialect and to keep this thousand years of Hakka dialect and culture to be passed on. This content can be express visualise in the background of Hakkas, the meaning and identity of dialect. Hence, the purpose of this project is to maintaining the Hakka dialect and also creating value for it As a designer, it is my intention to use media mix to convey ideas in the project and create valuable content, that can increase interest in the Hakka dialect by the audiences to inherit the dialect and culture to prevent dialect extinct.
