Interview Questions

The purpose of this interview is to get first-hand information from the interviewees and their perception towards provision shops (kedai runcit) from a different perspective. My target interviewees would be local consumers who often go to Kedai Runcit. The communication will be carried out in Mandarin and English during the interview.

Here are the questions planned:

1. What is your impression of Kedai Runcit in your childhood memories?

2. How often do you visit the Kedai Runcit?

3. What makes you more preferred Kedai Runcit? Any reason behind this?

4. Do you have any memorable experiences in Kedai Runcit?

5. What is the difference between the old-school Kedai Runcits compared to now?

Opinion Questions:

1. Do you agree that Kedai Runcit is the most unique shop in Malaysia? What do you think?

2. What are the current issues faced by Kedai Runcit in Malaysia? How do you think?

3. What are the reasons for consumers more prefer big supermarkets?

4. Do you know that the traditional Kedai Runcit is about to extinct in Malaysia due to the economic turndown? How do you think of this problem?

5. How does the kedai runcit look like in your childhood memories? Can you roughly sketch it on paper and show me?

Question (on social media)

Put out an IG/FB story - sticker question where I asked my followers how they think of the Kedai Runcit. It was important for me to ask other people to understand their perceptions as everyone looks at things differently.
